Corporate Employees Roll Up Sleeves for Blood Donation
The COVID-19 outbreak has impacted the public’s willingness to donate blood, and blood banks throughout Taiwan are constantly on the verge of drying up. SKS has been committed to a variety of charity activities for many years. Since 2021, with the business philosophy of “taking from society, giving back to society”, the company has joined the corporate blood donation campaign to contribute to the blood supply for medical use and to alleviate blood supply shortages in Taiwan. These efforts are made in the hope that people will show their love and donate blood, to give back to society while fulfilling the company’s corporate social responsibility. This year on May 9, SKS again took practical action to help solve the blood supply shortage, by joining hands with companies in Neihu to hold the corporate Surge of the Heart blood donation event at the headquarters of CHC Healthcare Group. This event was held with the intention to help blood donors transfer their love to those in need and make a contribution to the medical blood supply, as well as enhance donors’ health awareness. Such good deeds of benefiting others and ourselves create more positive energy and warmth for society.

Annual “921” Disaster Prevention Day To Strengthen Disaster Preparedness
To SKS, “921” is not simply the date on which the September 21, 1999 Jiji earthquake happened, but an indelible historical event. That disaster shocked the nation; the pain and suffering of that time are still vivid today. When the earthquake happened, SKS sent staff to assist in the disaster area at once, to conduct door-to-door searches for clients, and labelled clients’ places using sticky notes to confirm if they were safe or needed assistance. In addition, the company also involved in relief work such as transportation of relief supplies in the disaster area. Therefore, since the year after the 921 Earthquake, the company has upheld the belief that “history cannot be forgotten; experience must be remembered”, by holding the disaster prevention day with its branches every year on the day before 921, in hopes of deepening employee emergency evacuation and response capabilities. This year, with pandemic prevention requiring avoidance of gathering in groups, SKS adopted the three-step approach of “Drop, Cover, Hold on” for field training. SKS did this in hopes of preparing for danger in times of peace: “A stitch in time, may save nine lives”.
Besides, as the elderly may have difficulty getting up and moving around when an earthquake strikes, and may lack knowledge about disaster prevention, they are considered a group easily more vulnerable to earthquake dangers. In view of this, Shin Kong Security Fang Qiao Day Care Center conducted earthquake disaster drills for the elderly to practice earthquake procedures in realistic scenarios. Elders who were able to squat were taught to take the “Drop, Cover, Hold on” self-protection steps. Those who have difficulty moving were taught to cover their heads with pillows or quilts. The company hopes that through the drills, they can respond as quickly as possible, thus protecting elders’ lives in case of emergency disasters.

Active Promotion Of Female Employees’ Welfare; Bestowed With A Happy Enterprise Gold Awards
Employees are a precious asset to an enterprise, and a key indicator of its sustainable development and progress. In light of this, SKS has worked to provide employees with flexibility and balance between work, family, and health through care-giving in a multi-faceted approach. On November 11, SKS was awarded a Gold Award in the Life Service Industry category, at 2022’s 3rd Happy Enterprise Awards held by 1111 Job Bank.
In addition to providing employees with the benefits they are entitled to, SKS has also altered its work practices during the pandemic to provide different options, such as Work from Home (WFH), Pandemic Prevention Quarantine Leave, Unpaid Family Care Leave, and Vaccination Leave Leave Benefits, as well as Vaccination Insurance Subsidies. SKS has also provided pandemic-fighting supplies (such as medical masks, hand sanitizer pens, and self-testing kits). Additionally, the company is also staffed with dedicated registered professional nurses who care and provide health education guidance for employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. In view of SKS’ industry characteristics, 80% of the company’s employees are male; therefore, the company is actively revising measures to safeguard the rights and welfare of female employees, by implementing the Maternal Health Protection program. SKS is also promoting self-assessments of health condition, workplace hazard assessment, maternal health protection interviews, and work adaptation assessment. Every May, the company holds a Women’s Day, to promote positive cycles in society and the workplace, and create happy corporate values. With regards to employee physical and mental health, the company provides employees with stress relief massages and regular health checks. Employees noted through health checks to have abnormal health conditions are provided with regular on-site health services by occupational physicians for health-risk control. For employees suffering from occupational accidents, occupational physicians or nurses will also provide them with health consultations, health education guidance and care, professional rehabilitation advice, and other progressive Return to Work Plans, allowing these employees to gradually adapt to work and return to the workplace to work normally. SKS hopes its employees will be able to work happily in the company, and in so doing create happier corporate value.

Christmas Environmental Welfare Market
In this season filled with great blessings and gratitude, to express its appreciation to employees for their past year of hard work during the pandemic, SKS held a Christmas second-hand market on Christmas Eve. On the event day, 20% of the proceeds were donated to the Christmas Wish Gift activity held by the World Vision Taiwan. This year, in support of the charity, the company ordered Xmas Cookies Pack from the Amazing Grace Deaf Bakery as a gift for all of its employees. In the afternoon, the SKS’s Fun Games were held, with executives and colleagues from all units and business groups at the headquarters invited to participate. The event incorporated the issues of “environmental protection, helping people, and caring” this year, to give full play to corporate influence through actions and to support public welfare. The event was also held with the intentions to realize the concept of corporate social responsibility, to fill society with positive energy, and to set a good example for corporate sustainable development. SKS also hopes that all walks of life will join together in the charity work, to support disadvantaged groups and those in need.
